Obituary

Barbara Brombacher, 59, passed away peacefully at home while on hospice in the arms of her family Sunday, February 10th after a seven-year battle with cancer.

Barbara worked as a head waitress at the Horse Shoe Café for 25 years, and was a large part of the downtown Bellingham community. Many patrons referred to her simply as “Momma Barb.” Barbara was known best for her generous heart, raunchy sense of humor, wandering hands and pirate’s mouth.

Barbara survived by her loving husband, Robert Brombacher; canine companion Oscar; children Josh Lowmon (Emily & Evah), Amy Lowmon, and Tiffany Lowmon; brother James; and nieces Amber (Jayson, Jaedon, Hunter, Easton), Ashley (Taylor, Brooklyn), and Amanda (Cameron); and many other nieces & nephews.

Barbara loved family more than anything and now will be with her mother (Delores), father (Thomas), stepfather (Robert “Fuzz”), sister (Rebecca), brother (Mark), best friend (Carol), godson (Ron “Willy”), niece (Leona), and beloved canine companion, Angel.

Memorial Services will be held April 20th, 2019 at Fairhaven Park in Bellingham, Washington from 2pm-5pm. All who were touched by Barbara in life are invited to celebrate her with her family and friends.

The family would like to thank Whatcom Hospice House for all of their kindness and support helping to care for Barbara to keep her comfortable while living out her final days at home with her husband (Robert) and daughter (Amy).

It’s taken me nearly a week to find the words to say. I don’t think anything could describe her best then the wandering hands and her raunchy comments, or her always welcoming her home to anyone and everyone. She loved, and she loved so much. Without a doubt, she saved my life. I may not be her biological daughter, but she loved me like I was. She gave me life, and for that I am forever grateful. I will miss you forever, my beautiful angel. Fly high, with your family. And don’t forget those random leg punches you promised me. Xo! Forever and always, your adopted daughter.

I will never be able to step foot in the ‘Shoe again. It isn’t the same without her and neither is this town. You showed me how much I loved peanut butter on my pancakes. You got me to eat fish every Friday. You kept my water full and called me Prince. I will always miss you deeply. See you someday, Barb.

I didn’t get to know Barb as well as some but had the opportunity of meeting her through her niece Ashley when I was younger. She’s an unforgettable person. Beautiful inside and out, I will remember her by her playful and kind personality. So quirky and fun. She made everyone feel like part of the family, she is going to be so missed. My condolences to the family, I hope there is even an ounce of peace knowing she is not suffering. So much love to you all in this difficult time. <3
