In the early evening of April 18, 2017 Barbara Jean Dentler Timmins—known by all as BoBo—died in her home at the Summit Place. Her daughter, Juli, was by her side.
The eldest daughter of the Dentler Potato Chip family in Houston, Texas, BoBo was born (1930), grew up, married Dan Timmins (1949) and raised three children there. BoBo and Dan moved to Bellingham, Washington in the early 1980’s and designed and built their dream home on Sehome Hill. They would live there most of the rest of their lives.
BoBo had talent and skill for beauty, balance and detail that served her throughout her life. She was an avid gardener and her flower beds in bloom were breath-taking. She was often able to talk Dan or one of her children into relocating a tree or a bush in order to improve things. She had a good eye.
BoBo and Dan built miniature rooms and houses. They created worlds in 1/12th scale. He built the rooms and she furnished and decorated them. Again, her eye for detail produced stunning results.
After 59 years of marriage, BoBo was predeceased by her husband, Dan in 2008. BoBo is survived by her children: Frances (Linda), Julianne, and Dan Jr. (Margo and grandchildren Logan and Graysan). She also has a great grandson (Nolan) and a sister, Marilyn. Most of them are able to meet in Bellingham to honor her life and her death.
BoBo was interested in decorating and improving her home until the end. She loved to shop for and give presents to those she loved. She was a good cook. She did not like to iron. She had avidity and generosity for life that will be missed by those who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, please pass a blanket to a homeless person, cook a meal for a friend, tell a joke or perform a kindness. BoBo wanted people to be warm, well-fed and entertained.
The viewing will be Thursday, April 27 at 10 am at Moles Farewell Tributes (2465 Lakeway Dr.), followed by a graveside service at noon. There will be a celebratory gathering at 2 pm the same day in the Activity Room at Summit Place (2905 Connelly Ave).
Go well BoBo and take care.
