Obituary

Audrey C.J. Einarson

Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Audrey C.J. Einarson, passed away on May 22, 2013 at Stafholt Good Samaritan Center in Blaine, WA. She was born on Dec 24, 1912 to Edmond and Elva (Parsons) Levreault in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and celebrated her 100th birthday on Christmas Eve. Audrey was the most loving mom, grandma, and friend that anyone could hope for. Her dry sense of humor and occasional jokes will leave all of us with stories to reminisce about in the years to come.

When Audrey was 8, the family moved to Victoria, B.C., to be near her maternal grandmother’s family. They resided there for a few years, moving to Ladner, B. C. before she entered high school. Audrey met Harry Einarson in 1935; during a long courtship they enjoyed dancing to many of the big-named bands of the day. They were married in Bellingham on November 11, 1937, and were happily married for 48 years until his passing in 1985. They lived in Point Roberts, and for a short time they operated a small grocery store and Harry served as a Deputy County Sheriff; before he was employed by APA and eventually Whiz Fish for many, many years.

Audrey was president of a chapter of the Whatcom County Orthopedic Society, with her fellow officers and members, she held events to raise money to assist crippled children. She loved to entertain and was a wonderful cook and baker lemon pies were her specialty she would prepare several for the church bazaar, and Harry would follow her over to the bazaar and buy back one of the pies so he wouldnt have to wait until she was ready to bake again.

When they moved to Blaine, Audrey found a new way to help people – there were a number people, new to the area, who needed to learn to speak English, and for a time she taught English to people of various language backgrounds.

Audrey, an only child, made many friends in her lifetime, bringing with her friendship, wisdom, humor, thoughtfulness and fun. She is survived by her daughter Haroldine Gardner, son Ed (Marie) Einarson, four granddaughters; Leigh Anne, Lisa, Darcy and Heidi (Nick). She will also be missed by special friends; Norma, Mary, Rosa, Doreen, and Vera.

She was wonderful mother, fabulous grandmother, great sister-in-law, good friend, and a kind and giving person her whole life.

The family sends special thanks to all those at Stafholt who gave her such very special loving care. Thanks also to those from hospice who helped her in her final week, their care was exceptional.

  1. I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Audrey’s family and friends. May the promise given at Revelation 21:4 give you comfort and hope at this difficult time. It says “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away”. I am truly sorry for your loss.
