Obituary

Resident of Lynden

Arthur James “Jim” Martindale went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 12, 2014. He was born in Vancouver, BC, on January 19, 1935. He attended Simon Fraser Grade School where he met his childhood sweetheart, Anne, whom he later married. They spent almost 60 wonderful years together

Jim was an athlete. He played high school football, baseball, and track. Later he learned to play squash and pursued a lifetime love of golf.

Jim and Anne immigrated to Southern California where they raised their family. He worked for Borden Chemical for almost 20 years before retiring and relocating to Ferndale, WA. Jim and Anne made Lynden, WA, their home in 1998. Jim worked as a consultant at Lynden Door, a job he thoroughly enjoyed.

He loved the Lord and was a dedicated Christian for over 40 years. He was active in his church, involved in Promise Keepers, and Kiwanis.

Jim was a loving husband to Ann; dedicated father to Pam (Richard), Susan (Tom), and Sandra; grandfather to Jennifer, Ryan, Evan, Ian, Cameron, Riley, and Dylan; and great grandfather to Finn. He felt blessed to know he was loved by his family, to have had many life-long friends, and to be part of a wonderful community. Jim will be greatly missed by all.

Jim was a treasured member of the Lynden Kiwanis Club. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

  2. Dear Anne and family, We enjoyed sitting with you and Jim when we went to Grace Baptist. We always enjoyed visiting and maybe a laugh or two. Our prayers for our Lord’s comfort will be with you during this time. Love and Prayers.

  3. My sincere condolences to Jim’s family and friends.May you find comfort and hope in the promise at Isaiah 25:8- “He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.” I am truly sorry for your loss.

  4. Jim came to my office every morning at lynden door for around the last ten years to sit and have a cup of coffee. We had a lot of great conversations from everything to football, the door industry, and family. He loved his family very much and that was by far his favorite topic of discussion. I miss his company very much. God bless you Jim.
