Her mother-in-law Mavis Revey and a very special granddaughter, Hailey Revey.

There are no words for our grief. There are no words for my brother, Andre’s pain. Yet, here we are again – together, wordless, a little numb, hurting and in shock over this sudden loss. Although, we may not be able to make sense of time unspoken, it is important we understand, acknowledge and remember who she was and how she impacted our lives. I encourage you all to do that- remember those good things. Her huge jolly laugh, her love of the river and her ability to light up a room with that infectious smile. Although, we hurt today and our vision is a bit blurred, we must remember the beautiful things about her. We must begin to heal and accept the Creator has decided her work here on Earth is done.

As a family, we must do our part to ensure the work she left and the lessons she taught both big and small are continued through the lives she touched. We must face bravely, the fact that Anna’s death is real. We owe it to Anna and to ourselves to look through the fog and beyond the horizon at those many beautiful things she left behind.

Anna had many other accomplishments in her life. Her most prideful accomplishments were here children and her marriage to Andre. For the last several years of her life, she took pride in being the home maker of the home she built with Andre. She enjoyed being a wife. She took pride in making sure her house was clean, tidy and safe. At an early age she learned to cook. She loved to cook. Her favorite dish to cook was beef fajitas. She found every opportunity to share in our traditional ways. She believed in nourishing the bodies of others and having a good mind while doing so. She took every opportunity she could to prepare and share a meal at Grandma Mavis’ house.

In Andre’s words, “Our life together was better than anything I could have hoped for. She was perfect for me. I was perfect for her! We’d occasionally argue about silly things of course like which movie to watch or which restaurant to eat, as any two people might! And because she was also the most stubborn person I knew, she’d retreat to the opposite room of the house and wait for me to be the first to engage in an “I am sorry!” There wasn’t one disagreement she didn’t win! I knew she was my Queen and I was her King! No one will ever be able to take her place! She completed me. I am a broken man and my better half is gone, but I can see her in the faces of our family. That gives me a little comfort. She was beautiful both inside and out. When she smiled at me, I felt alive. I was truly blessed to have a wife who loved me. I love her so much it hurts. I am going to miss her. I don’t know how I am going to make it without her, but I know she is up there telling me to be strong. I am trying to my Queen, but it is hard without you here to keep me on track. I have lost my best friend, my confidant and my wife – I love you, Anna!” – Andre Revey Sr.

We often say death cannot be forecast. When we say this we image this day would be in the distant future. We never thought we would be thinking about Anna as a memory. With that in mind, in closing and on behalf of the family I remind you to remember all the beautiful things about her. Her beautiful smile, her big brown eyes, her perfect eyebrows, her fun yet bold sense of humor and her ability touch your heart through a meal well prepared! When someone leaves us, it is important we honor the gifts, good characteristics and fond memories they left by being and doing those same things.

Anna, we will remember you. We will honor you. We will always love you. Your spirit has been lifted and it is time to dance and swim with the salmon on that beautiful river we shared and spent so much time on.

Wife in Heaven

Although you sleep in Heaven now

You’ve not that far away

My heart is full of memories

And you’re with me everyday

You lived your life with meaning

And with a smile upon your face

A World that was full of happiness

Is now an empty place

People say that only time

Will heal a broken heart

But just like me and you

It has been torn apart

I know you are at peace now

An in a place where you are free

Meet me at the Pearly Gates

When Heaven calls for me

And with a smile upon your face

A World that was full of happiness

Is now an empty place

People say that only time

Will heal a broken heart

But just like me and you

It has been torn apart

I know you are at peace now

An in a place where you are free

Meet me at the Pearly Gates

When Heaven calls for me

A visitation will be held at 11:30am, Thursday, October 1, at Moles Farewell Tributes Ferndale with a graveside service to follow at Lummi Nation Cemetery.
