Obituary

Aneda L. Haszard passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at her residence in Lynden, WA. She was 98 years old and we know that she has met Jesus face to face.

Grandma was a tiny, redheaded lady with great spunk and endurance. She was born in Bellingham and attended school in Sumas. She met her husband, Al Haszard, while working as the elevator operator at JCPenney in downtown Bellingham. Grandpa walked into the elevator and said, Neda, Im taking you to lunch. He didnt pronounce her name right, but she was smitten. When Grandma and Grandpa retired, they packed up a travel trailer and hit the road. They loved camping with family and playing Rummy and Rook until dark.
Grandma was famous for her apple pies. It was always a treat to sip Liptons black tea and bite into a piece of Grandmas gravenstein apple pie. She was a great cook, saving recipes in a cookbook until they started to spill out.

We wish to thank the loving staff at Lynden Manor for their exceptional care of Grandma during the past few years.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Gottschalk; brother, Paul (Eileen) Starr; son-in-law, Paul Gottschalk; daughter-in-law, Arleen VanderYacht; sister-in-law, Vonnie Everson. Grandchildren: Lynda (John) Butorac, Lisa (Rance) Nakama, David (Becky) VanderYacht, Krista (Steven) Cooley, Kelli Bode. Great-grandchildren: Zach Butorac, Joe Butorac, Owen Bode, Eric Bode, Joel Bode, Ava Bode, Mikey Cooley, Sydney Bode. Great-great-grandchildren: Mahayla, Zoe. Numerous nieces and nephews and other loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Haszard; son, Douglas VanderYacht; sister, Vauetonne Bland; brother, Glenn Bristol.
