Obituary

Alta Mae Rhodes, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Hospice House in Bellingham on Monday August 5, 2013. Mae was born April 25, 1932 in Van Buren, Missouri to Samuel and Cora Lambert. At the age of 10 Mae moved with her family to Whatcom County.
She married Claude Rhodes on Oct. 22, 1949 in Blaine, Washington, and together they raised their two children Linda and Dennis.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Cora Lambert; husband Claude C. Rhodes; brothers Cecil and Carl Lambert; sisters Pearl Davis and Thela Ray. She is survived by her daughter Linda Braun and son-in-law Wayne; son Dennis Rhodes and daughter-in-law Robyn; four sisters Madrene Pettit, Dolly Pen, Gladys Pen, and Dix Koenig; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Doctors Knudsen, Nestor, and Sherman, and the Wonderful Staff at the Hospice House, for the loving and kind care they gave our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Sister.

Farewell Tribute Information

Graveside Services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery 5977 Northwest Ave. Ferndale, WA Friday, August 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. A coffee hour will follow at 7145 Firwood Dr. Ferndale from 1:00-3:00.

  2. My Dearest Friend Linda, You and your Mom were truly a pair….what fun you two would have and the great memories. I feel I was blessed to have known your Mom and shared in some part of her life. She was such a good Mom and you were certainly a wonderful daughter. I’m so sorry she had to leave us so soon, but know she is in great company in heaven and one day we will all be together again. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Wayne and your family. XXOO
