Bellingham
Albert Molina Macapulay, 85, died on May 3, 2014. He was born on June 15, 1928 in Paia, Maui, Hawaii. Al graduated from Maui High School and worked for Black Angus for over 20 years. He enjoyed traveling, and collecting baseball cards and memorabilia.
He is survived by his wife Betty of 57 years, sister Evelyn Smith; daughters Michele (Rick) Van Schaick and Melissa (Patrick) Wolken; grandchildren Cynthia (Quentin) Gant, Michael (Rhianna) Van Schaick, Christina (Peter) Treiber and Ashley Van Schaick; great-grandchildren Gunner Gant and Miller Treiber.

Farewell Tribute Information
On Friday, May 9, 2014, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, there will be a visitation in the chapel at Greenacres.
Visitation will be followed by funeral service, graveside service, and reception, beginning at 11:00 AM in the chapel at Greenacres.

My deepest sympathy to Al’s family and friends. May you find comfort in the promise at Revelation 21:4 where it says “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” I am truly sorry for your loss.

I have known Al since 1965 when he worked at the Shell station and I worked at the Texaco across the street on Iowa. Years later I would work with him at Northside Texaco at the corner of James and Alabama. Al Macapulay was one of the nicest, friendliest, hardest working people I’ve ever met. I don’t think I ever saw him when he wasn’t smiling. Al was a remarkable human being and the most conscientious automobile servicer to many thousands of motorists from all over Bellingham and Whatcom County. who would only trust their car to him. It was a distinct pleasure to know, and work along side of Al. Such an amazingly decent, honest human being! I am certain by now he already has St Peter’s entire fleet, all serviced and on a regular maintenance schedule.

Betty, Shelly and Melissa,
Al meant a lot to me. I played in the Salvation Army band with him for many years. I also remember him playing his guitar in Sunday School before we went to our classes. He always had a kind word and was always smiling.
I am so glad that I saw him not too long ago at the Bellingham Corps and had a nice conversation with him. He really did not change at all……..he was just the same as I remembered.
