I was saddened to read of Mike’s death. I met Mike and Jeanette, when my husband, Lee Hahn, was also living at Highgate Senior Living. Mike was a lovely man and always had a smile and a comment for us. My favorite memory of him was watching him jigging around in one of the exercise classes. He was enjoying himself and entertaining us. It was hard to believe he was in his nineties.
I also have to mention Mike’s love and care for his dog, Spunky. He didn’t take him into the dining room, but wherever else you saw Mike for the rest of the day, you would see Spunky. Jeanette, you were devoted to both of them and I will be thinking of you at this difficult time.

    With love,
    Trish

  2. Janet says:

Mike was a dear and delightful presence at Highgate and well loved by all of us lucky enough to share his acquaintance. He was ready with a smile and generous with his hearty expression of appreciation for caregivers, residents, visiting performers, and especially for his remarkably devoted friend, Jeanette. His own devotion to his dog, Spunky, should serve as an example to all of us of how we should respect all living beings.
Mike told me the first day I met him that he wanted to live to be 100. Well, he came close, and though he didn’t quite make his goal, he finished just a stroke away from par and he played a darned good game!

There was nothing subpar about the man, though. Mike Watson was a good guy and will be missed by many.

  3. I recently learned of Duane’ s passing in 2002 and his family members. Once I gave Duane original Russian recipes per his request without making copies. To this day, I can not duplicate the recipes. Living faraway, I let it go. My heart goes out to his family and I am sorry for your loss.
