Obituary

Adela Duarte, age 74, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2023.

Adela was born on January 15, 1949, in Edinburgh, Texas to Juan and Julia Lopez.

Early in life, Adela met her husband Isaac and they were married December 4th, 1972, in Yakima, WA. They have remained together for 50 years raising three amazing children together: Lisa, Rachel, and Bob. Adela worked as a grocer for Brown & Cole Company for 16 years.

Adela enjoyed crosswords and spending time with her sizable family. She showed her loving and caring nature by singing with her grandchildren and enjoying tea parties with family. She loved visiting her family in Eastern Washington, it was one of her favorite vacations. Family BBQ’s were also among her favorite activities, where everyone loved seeing her smile and hearing her laugh.

She was a fighter and known for her strength, but her kindness and generosity will be most remembered. No matter what the situation was, Adela was the first to be there to show her love and support though whatever you were going through. Despite how much she may have been hurting, she always put others above herself.

Adela is survived by her husband Isaac Duarte, her son Bobby Duarte and daughters Rachel Duarte and Lisa Trevino. Her siblings Diana Morfin, Rosa Tiffany, Richard Lopez, Mikey Lopez, and Jimmy Lopez. Her grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

  1. So saddened to hear of Adela’s passing. I was her neighbor for many years in Lynden and she was always such a kind uplifting person. Thinking of you all, especially Isaac, during this time and for the days ahead.
